Flutter club app for Voetbal Rotterdam: club news, live scores, match schedule and push notifications

Voetbal Rotterdam is the central platform for amateur football in Rotterdam. Dozens of clubs, hundreds of teams and thousands of players use the platform to manage match schedules, results and standings. The app brings this information tailored to individual supporters and players.

We developed a Flutter app for iOS and Android with club news, live match results, the full match schedule per club and standings. Push notifications keep players and supporters informed of important news. Google Mobile Ads generates sustainable revenue.

The challenge

Centralising amateur football information on mobile

Voetbal Rotterdam had an excellent web platform, but players and supporters wanted the information on their mobile too. The app had to display live data, send push notifications on news and offer advertising as a revenue model.

The approach

Flutter for iOS and Android, real-time data via REST API

We built the app in Flutter so iOS and Android are served from a single codebase. The app retrieves live match data via a REST API. Firebase Cloud Messaging handles push notifications for important news. Google Mobile Ads generates advertising revenue.
