E-learning app for surgical preparation in the operating room
About the project
Incision Academy is an e-learning platform for the operating room. Via step-by-step courses with 2D and 3D video material, healthcare professionals train the exact preparations required for surgical procedures. After completing a course, users receive a certificate as proof of competence.
We chose Ionic to build an iOS and Android app that connects via the WordPress REST API to the existing backend. Course content is also available offline thanks to local caching.
Features
iOS & Android
Cross-platform app from a single Ionic codebase
2D & 3D video
Step-by-step visual guidance per surgical procedure
Offline
Course content available without an internet connection
The challenge
Surgical preparation requires precise knowledge that is difficult to convey through traditional training. Incision wanted a platform where healthcare professionals can practise anywhere and at any time, at their own pace and with visual support. The app also had to connect to an existing WordPress backend.
The approach
We built an Ionic app that connects via the WordPress REST API to an existing backend. Through local caching, course content is also available offline, which is essential for hospitals where connectivity is not always guaranteed.
Result
An Ionic app that connects via the WordPress REST API to an existing backend. Through local caching, course content is also available offline.
iOS & Android
One Ionic codebase for both platforms, connected to existing WordPress backend
Offline
Course content always available via local caching, even without a network in the hospital
Certificates
Demonstrable competence after completing a course, directly visible in the app
