About the project
Hoogstraten Fotografie photographs more than 10,000 pupils at Dutch schools every year. After each session, all 175,000+ photos per year need to be linked to the right pupils and synchronised to the online webshop. For a long time this was done manually.
Our team developed the Fotostudio: a Flutter desktop application (Windows and Mac) that lets photographers and administrators link barcodes to photos with a single scan. All data is synchronised to a Firebase backend, where it is immediately available in the webshop.

The challenge
After school photo shoots, all photos had to be manually linked to pupils via barcodes. This was done via an old Windows application: scanning barcodes, placing photos in folders and later manually uploading everything to the webshop. This process cost dozens of hours per year.
The approach
We built the Fotostudio in Flutter so it works on Windows and Mac. The app stores barcodes and photos locally, even without internet. Once online, everything synchronises automatically to Firebase Storage and the database. We integrated Sentry for error tracking so we can resolve issues proactively.
Result
The Fotostudio automates the entire process from barcode linking to webshop synchronisation. Photographers and administrators no longer have to enter everything manually.
